Become a Director with the Avalon Mountain Bike Association

The Avalon Mountain Bike Association (AMBA) is recruiting new Directors to join our Board. As a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit organization, our Directors play a vital role in guiding our strategy, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the operations that keep our trail networks growing.

We’re looking for active, engaged leaders who can bring new energy, expertise, and ideas to the table. If you want to help shape the direction of mountain biking on the Avalon, this is a meaningful way to get involved.

We are especially seeking Directors with skills or experience in:

  • Treasury or Accounting: budgeting, financial oversight, reporting

  • Infrastructure / Operations Management: trail infrastructure planning, maintenance oversight

  • Project Management: project management & execution, procurement, subcontractor management

  • Government Relations: working with municipalities, provincial departments, and land managers

  • Event Planning and Execution: community events, volunteer coordination, ridership engagement

We’re also recruiting for a Secretary, responsible for board documentation, meeting minutes, governance support, and helping maintain organizational continuity. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain corporate records: Store and maintain official documents such as the articles of incorporation, bylaws, and meeting minutes.

  • Take and approve minutes: Accurately record minutes from all board and committee meetings, ensuring they are approved by the board and made available to members.

  • Track directors: Maintain an up-to-date roster of board directors and their terms; manage CADO entries.

  • Document decisions: Serve as the official record keeper of the organization's decisions and ensure policies are well-documented.

  • Schedule and organize meetings: Coordinate and schedule board meetings. Create agendas.

Key Details

  • Applications are open now through Dec 12, 2025

  • Interviews will take place in early January. Should you be selected, your first board meeting will be on January 15 or slightly later

  • The Board meets monthly (with additional committee work depending on the role)

  • Directors serve a two-year term with option to renew​​
